CALDWELL, Idaho – An outstanding defensive effort by the College of Idaho forced 25 Corban University turnovers, as the Lady Yotes won their second game in three outings, stopping the Warriors, 73-63, inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
Petra Lumpert had 20 points and four steals,
Madison Pilster had 18 points, five rebounds and three steals, with
Alyssa Case adding eight points and five steals, as C of I (2-8, 2-2 CCC) turned the miscues into 26 points.
The Warriors (6-6, 0-4) held a 10-7 lead four minutes into the game, but the Lady Yotes a pair of free throws each from Pilster and Lumpert, along with lay-ups from
Jaycin Tini and
Kiara Skinner in an 8-0 run that gave the hosts a lead they would not relinquish.
Leading 47-39 in the third quarter, a Pilster put-back, Case triple and a driving basket from Lumpert helped C of I take their largest lead of the night at 54-39, with Corban unable to get closer than seven the rest of the way.
The Coyotes won despite making just 4-of-18 3-pointers and losing the battle on the boards, 44-30 – making up for it at the foul line, going 23-of-34 from the stripe.
Tini had 16 points and a team-high seven rebounds with
Lindy Westendorf adding six points and five rebounds off the bench.
Maddey Pflaumer was the offense for the Warriors, scoring 36 points – the most by a player in the Cascade Conference this season, with Sadie Pilgeram scoring 11 points with 10 rebounds. After staying close in the first half by making five 3-point baskets, Corban went 0-for-8 after the break.
C of I returns to action following the holiday break, traveling to Evergreen for a Dec. 30 match-up.
