DILLON, Mont. – Kaye Bignell scored 15 of her game-high 29 points in a 31-13 first quarter run, as Montana Western hit 56-percent of their field goals in a 88-67 victory over the College of Idaho in Straugh Gynasium.
Bignell made 11-of-13 field goals, including four straight buckets in a 12-0 run that gave the Bulldogs (4-0) an 18-4 lead. She added four-straight free throws later in the period to extend the margin to 29-8.
The Lady Yotes (0-2) would chip away at the deficit in the third quarter, with a
Maddie Skaggs three-pointer late in the period cutting the margin to 65-52. Western proved too strong, as a Bignell basket starting a 7-0 run in the fourth quarter that extended the lead back to 20 points.
Petra Lumpert led C of I with 15 points, with
Jaycin Tini recording 11 points and four rebounds.
Madison Pilster had nine points, but recorded a team-high five steals.
Cierra Lamey had 15 points and seven boards for the Bulldogs; Aniese Palmore had 11 points and nine assists; with Britt Cooper scoring 10.
The Lady Yotes return to action next weekend in Lewiston, meeting Montana Tech and Lewis-Clark State.
