HELENA, Mont. – Carroll College used a 15-0 run early in the first quarter to build a big lead that would never waver, as the Saints toppled the College of Idaho, 82-66, in the PE Center.
Brittney Johnson led the Saints (3-0) with 17 points, including a three-pointer and a jumper in the early run, as Carroll overcame 21 turnovers in the victory.
Making their season debut, the Lady Yotes (0-1) whittled a 21-point second quarter lead down to 36-28 – as triples from
Kiara Skinner and
Savanna Reid keyed the 15-2 C of I run. However, Johnson canned back-to-back treys early in the third quarter to extend the lead to 54-34 and the hosts sprinted to the victory.
Petra Lumpert led four C of I players in double-figures with 20 points, making 10-of-11 free throw attempts. Skinner had 10 points, with both
Madison Pilster and
Maddie Skaggs each scoring 10 off the bench.
Cassidy Hashley had 14 points and eight rebounds, with both Baylee Watson and Hannah Dean scoring 11 for the Saints.
C of I closes out the road trip tomorrow with a 3 p.m. tip at Montana Western.
