CALDWELL, Idaho – Sam Howard scored in a scrum in front of the net inside the final 10 minutes of play, lifting the University of Great Falls to a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over the College of Idaho at Simplot Stadium.
The Argos (5-4, 4-2 CCC) trailed 2-0 at the break, but used a flurry midway through the half to draw even – using a 15-4 second half shot advantage to earn the victory.
C of I (3-5, 2-3) stunned the 2015 NAIA Tournament team a pair of first half goals from
Guilherme Siqueira – taking a thru-ball from
Mehmed Selimovic in the fifth minute and slotting home the score, while blasting a feed from
Joao Cardoso in the 31st minute into the upper right corner of the net.
The visitors got on the board in the 60th minute, as Christopher Bisbo played a left-to-right cross in the box, finding the head of Cole Myers for the strike. Less than two minutes later, the Argos scored off a set piece, as Ole Cloppenburg headed home a second ball off a corner kick.
The game-winner was off the third corner on the day for UGF – with the ball bouncing inside the 6-yard-box until Howard flicked a shot on goal that found the right corner of the net.
C of I had a chance late for an equalizer, but a Cardoso shot was cleared off the goal line by the Argos defense.
UGF held a 22-10 edge in total shots and took all three corners in the match.
Coyote keeper
