BOISE, Idaho – A dominating performance by the College of Idaho netted the Lady Yotes their first-ever dual meet victory over Pacific University, topping the Boxers 183-68 in the long course matchup at the West Family YMCA.
Complete ResultsThe No. 6 ranked Lady Yotes (3-1) won 13 of the 14 events, with four different competitors winning two races for C of I.
Maddy Kelly continued her great freshman season, winning both the 100-yard freestyle (53.87) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.38), while swimming legs on C of I's winning 200-medley (1:56.60) and 200-free (1:43.62) relay teams.
Fellow freshman
Aunika Torres won the 200-yard backstroke (2:21.80) and the 200-yard IM (2:20.67) – hitting the NAIA "B" standard in the individual medley.
Regan Smith earned wins in both distance events – claiming the 500 (5:51.85) and the 1,650-yard (19:50.46) freestyle, with
Emily Hawgood sweeping the breaststroke races with NAIA "B" cuts, clocking a time of 1:13.46 in the 100 and 2:37.80 in the 200.
Other winners for the Lady Yotes included
Kelly Burnham in the 200-yard freestyle (2:02.77);
Kirby Roberts in the 50-yard freestyle (25.91); and
Quin McLaughlin in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.54).
The lone winner for the Boxers (0-5) was Rachel Webster, who earned a two-second victory in the 200-yard butterfly.
The Lady Yotes hit the road next Saturday for a dual meet at Whitman College.
