PORTLAND, Ore. – Kendra Preuninger hit three 3-pointers in a 22-5 run that erased a College of Idaho lead, as Warner Pacific defeated the Lady Yotes, 84-65 at Bart Valentine Court inside C.C. Perry Gymnasium.
Box Score The No. 24 ranked Knights (11-3, 6-2 CCC) snapped a 2-game losing streak with the victory – making an even 50-percent of their field goal tries.
The Yotes (4-10, 3-5) came out strong, as
Jaycin Tini scored nine of her 16 points in a 21-11 run to open the game. However, Preuninger took over, splashing back-to-back triples, the second giving WP a 25-23 lead – an edge they would never relinquish.
C of I made a push early in the second quarter, as a trey and a jumper by
Haylee Burnham got the visitors within 44-40. WP answered with two Kyeli Hendryx 3s in an 11-2 run that broke the game open.
Taylor Howlett led the Knights with 18 points, Kasara Brandenburg had 14 and Hendryx scoring 11 points with nine assists and seven rebounds.
Petra Lumpert led C of I with 17 points, making all three of her 3-point attempts.
Ryleigh Swagerty had nine off the bench, with
Ashleigh Blalock going 4-for-4 from the field, scoring eight points. The Yotes made all 11 of their free throw attempts in the loss.
C of I returns to action next Friday, hosting nationally-ranked Southern Oregon.
