Petra Lumpert scored seven of her team-high 20 points in a crucial 10-2 fourth quarter run, as the College of Idaho defeated Multnomah University, 73-61, at Jim Skagen Court.
Box Score The Lady Yotes (4-9, 3-4 CCC) ended an 11-game road losing streak in the victory – the first-ever game between the schools.
Leading 60-57 early in the final period, Lumpert scored on back-to-back lay-ups, followed by a long
Kellie Ross trey that extended the lead to 68-59. Lumpert made the back-breaking play with four minutes remaining, stealing a Lions (3-12, 1-6) pass in backcourt and converting it into a 3-point play that gave C of I a 12-point cushion.
The Lady Yotes made a season high 10 3-pointers in the win, draining 6-of-12 treys in the opening quarter to take a 27-24 lead, extending the margin to 37-28 late in the second period after an 8-0 run. MU drew even at 53-53 midway through the third quarter, but could not regain the lead.
Lumpert added six rebounds and five assists for C of I;
Haylee Burnham scored a season-high 18 points;
Kiara Skinner had nine points and
Ashleigh Blalock recorded career-highs of eight points and seven rebounds.
Miranda Schmillen had 20 points and Karissa Cox scored 16 for the Lions in the loss. MU was limited to 32-percent shooting in the second half, including a 0-of-12 effort from outside the arc.
C of I returns to action tomorrow night, traveling to No. 23 ranked Warner Pacific at 5:30 p.m. (PT)
