Ryleigh Swagerty scored all 14 of her points in the second half, as the College of Idaho turned up the defensive pressure to erase an eight point deficit and roll to a 75-66 victory at the Evergreen State College, inside Costantino Recreation Center.
Box Score The Lady Yotes (6-15, 5-10 CCC) forced 12 turnovers after halftime, converting the mistakes into 22 points to complete the season sweep of ESC and pushing C of I two games ahead of the Geoducks for the final berth in the Cascade Conference Championships.
Evergreen (3-17, 3-12) commanded the majority of the first 20 minutes, using a 17-5 run spanning the opening quarters to take a 32-23 lead on a Victory Elleby put-back.
The Geoducks would lead 38-30 just 90 seconds into the third quarter when C of I scored 15-straight points – started by a
Jaycin Tini post move for two points and following a
Petra Lumpert steal on the inbounds play – found Haylee Burnahm for an easy deuce. Swagerty got into the act, stroking a mid-range jumper and a triple, followed by a fast break basket, helping the Yotes to a 45-38 lead.
Two Victoria Elleby free throws got the Greeners with 48-46 late in the third, before a 7-0 C of I run put the game away – as the Yotes made 58-percent of their shots after halftime.
Petra Lumpert led the Yotes with 16 points, Swagerty had 14, with Tini scoring 13, converting 17-of-20 free thow.
Gabi Fenumiai led ESC with 23 point and 14, with Elleby.
The Lady Yotes return home next weekend to close out the regular-season home slate – hosting Warner Pacific and Multnomah.
