TUCSON, Ariz. - Erupting for 33 runs on 32 hits, the College of Idaho ran their win streak to six games with two victories today at the Tucson Invitational Games at the Kino Sports Complex.
C of I rallied in the late innings for a 17-5 victory over Division II University of Mary, then rolled to a 16-7 win over Grace College.
Mitch Viydo led the Yotes (10-6) with a 5-for-11 day, adding a triple, a homer, four runs scored, and four RBI.

In Game 1, the Marauders (4-7) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first three innings. UM took advantage of four walks and a hit by pitch with two outs in the second to plate three runs, with the North Dakota school adding an unearned run in the third.

C of I cut the margin in half in the fourth on a Nate Hundley sacrifice fly and a Sam Grise RBI single, but Sam Hennen delivered an RBI triple in the fifth to give MU a 5-2.

The Coyotes began the rally in the seventh, as a Troy Carr RBI single and a Brady Mooney bases loaded walk got C of I within a run. An inning later, Carr tied the score with an RBI single, with Cole Mansanerez breaking the deadlock with a two-run triple. Chase Miller added an RBI single in the six-run frame as C of I built a 10-5 lead.

A seven-run ninth, including four extra base hits put the game away, as Lee Johnson-Harris and Viydo gapped back-to-back RBI triples, Johnny Hyland roped a two-run double, and Miller added an RBI double.

Drew Klassen was solid in relief, going four-plus innings, allowing just one earned run on three hits, with Joel Martin tossing two and two-thirds innings of shutout relief for the win. Miller was 4-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI; Grise was 4-for-6; Viydo was 2-for-6 with three runs scored, with Carr and Seth Champlin each adding two hits.

C of I broke open a close game by plating 12 runs in the middle innings to hand the Lancers (3-1) their first loss of the season.

The teams traded runs early, as Carr rapped an RBI double in the first to give C of I the lead, but Grace countered with fourth inning RBI knocks from Frank Rocchio and Austin Baker to make it 2-1. The Yotes got even in the bottom of the inning on a Kyle Garvin RBI single, but an inning later, Aaron Christenberry tripled and scored on an error, giving the Lancers a 3-2 lead.

The Yotes tied the game in the fifth on a Carr sacrifice fly and took the lead in the sixth on back-to-back RBI doubles by Jordan Grubbs and Hyland. C of I put it away with a seven-run seventh, keyed by a three-run homer by Viydo and RBI doubles from Matt Hamilton and Garvin.

Zach Fabricius got the win, allowing two earned runs in seven innings of work. Viydo and Garvin each had three hits in the victory, with the Yotes earning the decision despite a season-high seven errors.

C of I closes out the trip with a Monday morning meeting with Northwestern College.
