CALDWELL, Idaho – Karly LeVeque scored a game-high 20 points, leading Oregon Tech to their first win inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center since 2006, topping the College of Idaho, 78-58.
The Owls (17-6, 6-5 CCC) won for the first time on C of I's home floor since a 56-47 victory on Feb. 10, 2006, ending an 11-game skid.
Tech never trailed in the game, as LeVeque canned a trey and added a lay-up in a 17-4 run that staked the visitors to a 19-6 lead. The Lady Yotes (6-14, 5-6) would get 3-pointers from Kellie Ross and Emily Rainboth, part of an eight-point surge to close the gap to 24-19.
C of I would cut the margin to five on two later occasions – the last at 53-48 with 12 minutes remaining, before Ashleigh Vandenbrink scored five straight points for the Owls to extend the lead to double figures. Megan Whetstone had back-to-back jumpers from the left corner in a 9-0 run late that extended OIT's lead to 71-54.
LeVeque was 7-of-11 from the field in the victory for the Owls. Rebekah Matteri had 12 points, six rebounds and five assists; Tess Armstrong recorded 12 points and seven rebounds; with Whetstone scoring 10.
Ross led the Yotes with a game-high 14 points, while Rainboth scoring a career-high 11.
C of I hits the road for the next three games, beginning Friday at Concordia.
