SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Tia Pappas scored a game-high 18 points, as Westminster College held the College of Idaho to their lowest point total in program history, defeating the Lady Yotes, 64-33, in the finale of the Westminster Tip-Off Classic.
The No. 4 ranked Griffins (2-0), who defeated BYU in an exhibition game earlier in the week, held C of I to just three made field goals in the opening half and 24-percent shooting for the game. The 33 points scored by the Yotes broke the record of 34 points in a loss to Montana Western in 1996 for fewest points in a game.
Westminster used the three-point basket early, scoring the first 13 points in the game, including a pair of treys from Alli Winters. Winters would add a third three-pointer to extend the lead to 23-4 with seven minutes remaining in the half.
A 10-0 run early in the second half gave WC a 41-13 before the Lady Yotes tried to rally. Kellie Ross hit a pair of 3's and Brittany Wirth added a three-point play to get C of I with 18 points midway through the half, but Westminster scored the next 10 points to put the game out of reach.
Amy Krommenhoek added 16 points, including four three-pointers, with Winters scoring nine. WC hit 12-of-30 three-point attempts in the win.
Ross was the lone C of I player in double figures with 13, with Ashleigh Blalock scoring six points and adding five rebounds in her first collegiate start.
The Yotes return to action on Nov. 19, hosting rival Northwest Nazarene in an exhibition game.
