Yotes Close Road Schedule With Loss at Concordia

PORTLAND, Ore. – Timur Zhividze broke open a tight game with a pair of second half goals and assisted on a third, as Concordia University defeated the College of Idaho, 5-0, at Tuominen Yard.
 
The Cavaliers (12-4, 11-2 CCC) clinched the regular-season Cascade Conference title and No. 1 seed in the upcoming league playoffs with the victory, completing a season sweep of the Yotes.
 
CU jumped out to a quick lead in the 17th minute, as William Mecier took a pass at the top of the six-yard box and drove home the ball into the left corner of the net.
 
After the teams combined for just four shots during the final 25 minutes of the first half, the floodgates opening in the final period.  CU was the aggressor, as Zhividze buried a 20-yard free kick in the 52nd minute to extend the lead.  In the 62nd minute, Zhividze played a ball down the right side to B.J. Romac, driving home an angled 15-yard shot to make it 3-0.
 
Zak Naylor found Zhividze in the 66th minute on a cross in the box that was flicked into the net to make it 4-0, while Ryan Morissey headed home a Corbyn May corner kick early in the 73rd minute to complete the scoring.
 
CU held a commanding 26-5 edge in total shots, including a 19-3 edge after halftime.  The Cavs had a 9-3 edge in corners, while the Yotes (7-10, 4-9) were whistled for 20 fouls.
 
Cavs keeper Mitch McCaw faced just one shot on goal in the shutout win, with C of I keeper John French made seven saves.
 
The Yotes close out the 2014 season Tuesday with a 3 p.m. meeting against Corban.
