CALDWELL, Idaho – Niurka Toribio had 16 kills and 13 digs, leading Lewis-Clark State to a 25-22, 25-20, 22-25, 25-23 victory over The College of Idaho inside a loud J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The Warriors (6-8) used a 5-0 push midway through the fourth set to erase a 16-13 C of I lead. The Yotes (0-7) evened the score at 23-23 on a Liz Myers kill, but a two-handed kill attempt from C of I's Sierra Porter went wide, and after a long rally, Keisha Lubbert-Kennedy put away a quick set in the middle to end the match.
Treneisha Doyle had 13 kills in the win, using a powerful serve throughout the match, leading L-C with three aces. Both Naomi Hernandez and Ali Hubert each had 27 assists in the win for the Warriors.
Lili Brochado had 16 kills to lead the Yotes – who hit a season-high .243 in the loss. Sofia Anxo had 11 kills and Kylee Nawahine added 10 kills for C of I, with Sierra Porter recording 47 assists and eight digs and Janel Porter logging 20 digs.
C of I returns to action on Friday, meeting Evergreen at 7 p.m.
NOTES: The win was the third-straight victory for L-C in Caldwell…handing the Yotes three of their five losses at home over their past 103 home games…the losing streak for the Yotes (eight matches, dating back to 2012) is the longest since 1995.
