PARKLAND, Wash. - True freshman Mckayla Stevens hit three NAIA "B" national qualifying marks in her collegiate debut, leading The College of Idaho women's swim team in the season opening dual at Pacific Lutheran.

Kirby Roberts and Selena Warburton earned individual wins for the Yotes - however, PLU used their depth to defeat C of I, 197-64.
Stevens opened the evening with a third-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.93) - the third-fastest time in the 10-year history of the program. She followed with a third-place effort in the 200-yard backstroke (2:19.22) and a second-place finish in the 200-yard IM (2:20.58) - the second-fastest IM in Yotes history. The rookie closed the day by anchoring the 400-yard freestyle relay that placed second (3:55.25) - hitting the NAIA "A" standard with the second-fastest time in school history.
Roberts picked up a win in the 100-yard freestyle (56.72), hitting the "B" standard, while anchoring the 200-yard medley relay (1:58.30) that easily hit the NAIA "A' cut. Warburton hit the "B" mark in winning the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.06) and swam the breaststroke leg in the medley relay.
Freshman Alexis Medelez placed second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:03.69) - hitting the NAIA "B" standard with the fourth-fastest time registered by a Lady Yote in a decade.
PLU had at least four competitors in each race and cruised to the team win - as Kina Ackerman earned wins in the 200-yard IM and 1,000-yard freestyle, with Natasha Sioda won the 100 and 200-yard backstroke events.
The Yotes close out their opening weekend tomorrow at Puget Sound.
