Montana Western Spoils Runnin' Yotes Debut, 100-92

DILLON, Mont. - Despite a career-high 26 points and 16 rebounds from Antonio Garrett, The College of Idaho could not overcome a 17-point second half deficit, dropping a 100-92 decision to Montana Western at Straugh Gymnasium.

In the debut of head coach Scott Garson, the Yotes (0-1) erased a 13 point first half lead, squaring the game at 57-57 on a Taylor Pruett three-pointer with just over 14 minutes remaining in the second half. However, the preseason favorite to win the NAIA Division I Frontier Conference got seven of Connor Woodill's 11 points in a a 16-3 run to break the game open. C of I closed the gap late to 94-89, but could not get closer.

Garrett made 9-of-14 shots from the field and 8-of-10 from the line, with nine of his boards on the offensive end. Jordan O'Byrne had a great C of I debut, scoring 22 points, including a trio of three-point baskets, while Pruett went 4-for-7 from outside the arc and scored 18.

C of I went 10-for-28 from outside the arc, but committed 16 turnovers in the loss.

The Bulldogs (2-1) had six players in double-figures, led by the 19 points of guard Maazin Butler, with Kurtis Parsons going 4-for-7 from outside the arc, part of a 16 point night.

The two teams combined for 53 fouls and 65 free throw attempts in the game.
