Box Score

CALDWELL, Idaho - Emily Ottinger had a match-high 16 kills and Janel Porter added a career-high 38 digs, as The College of Idaho ended No. 9 ranked Eastern Oregon's 15-match win streak with a 25-19, 25-15, 19-25, 25-23 victory inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

The win for the Lady Yotes (10-8, 10-2 CCC) was their sixth in a row and clinched their 15th-straight postseason appearance. C of I recorded their second-straight win against a Top-25 foe.

Set 1 featured multiple long rallies with outstanding play by both defenses – as the Mountaineers (21-3, 11-1) took an 11-9 lead on a Stefani Sorensen kill. The Yotes answered, riding the serve of Kylee Nawahine – getting back to back kills from Sierra Porter in a 7-0 surge to give the hosts a 16-11 lead. EOU would close within 18-17 on a Taylor Stewart kill, but the Yotes got back-to-back kills from Nawahine to hand the Mounties just their third first-set loss of the season.

Set 2 was all C of I, as Ottinger pounded down three kills and Lili Brochado added two more in a 7-2 run to open the period. Four-straight EOU hitting errors extended the Yotes lead to 16-8 and the hosts cruised to the 2-0 match lead.

Eastern would not go down without a fight, as Sorensen had five kills and Casey Loper added four more in Set 3, as the Mounties used an early 4-0 run to take a 7-3 lead and never trailed again to extend the match.

EOU jumped out to a 6-3 lead in Set 4, but the Yotes rallied – as a pair of Ottinger kills, sandwiched around a Kylie Porter stuff block, gave C of I a 9-8 lead. Two Coyote hitting errors gave the visitors a 14-11 lead, but a pair of service aces and a huge 1-on-1 solo block from Liz Myers fueled a 7-1 C of I push that would give the Yotes a 18-15 lead. Eastern would pull even at 23-23 on a combo-block, but the Yotes went back to Ottinger for a kill and forced a Sorensen swing to go wide to close out the victory.

Nawahine had nine kills and 22 digs, with Myers adding eight kills and three blocks in the win. Sierra Porter had 41 assists and 12 digs, with Janel Porter's big night defensively was her fourth 30-plus dig match of her career.

Loper led EOU with 14 kills, with Taylor Stewart adding 11 kills and 14 digs, while Sorensen had 10 kills and 15 digs. Karly Stack had 39 assists, with Jessalynn notching a match-high 39 digs.

The Lady Yotes step away from Cascade Conference play on Tuesday for a road match at Lewis-Clark State.
