CALDWELL, Idaho - A pair of goals midway through the first half held up, as Southern Oregon remained unbeaten in Cascade Conference play, defeated The College of Idaho, 2-1, at Simplot Stadium.
Sydney Paulsen flicked home a loose ball off a corner kick inside the six-yard box in the 27th minute to give the Raiders (7-2-3, 3-0-1 CCC) a 1-0 lead. Less than three minutes later, Kendra Madras-Kelly made a run down the left side, with her pass eluding two C of I defenders, finding the foot of Lisa Elledge, who drove home the 18-yard shot for the two-goal edge.
The Lady Yotes (3-8, 1-3) had chances - as Summer Jackson drove a free kick off the left post in the 38th minute, Jamiece Yizar had a header 51st minute that was cleared off the end line by the Raiders Allyson Ward, with a second Yizar header in the 54th minute that missed just high.
C of I got on the board in the 87th minute, as Katy Radko played a through-ball up the middle of the field, finding Jackson, who used two touches before slicing a shot into the right corner of the net. However, SOU controlled the ball for the remaining three minutes to seal the victory.
The Yotes held a 15-10 edge in total shots and a 5-4 edge in corner kicks in the loss.
C of I hits the road next weekend for matches at Northwest and Evergreen.
