Lady Yotes Continue Dominance of Eastern Oregon

CALDWELL, Idaho - Jessica Peacock recorded a game-high 15 kills and 10 digs, leading The College of Idaho to their 36th-straight victory over rival Eastern Oregon, topping the Mountaineers 21-25, 25-16, 25-23, 25-20, inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

Box Score

The No. 15 ranked Yotes (12-4, 9-0 CCC) have defeated EOU every time since October of 1996, while winning their 67th-straight Cascade Conference home game.  The C of I completed a perfect first half of the league slate, holding a one-game lead on Southern Oregon.

Eastern (12-5, 6-3) had just two hitting errors in an intense first set, as Rebecca Haight logged five kills to lead the Mountaineers to the set win.  EOU broke away after seven ties, the last at 10-10.

The Coyotes jumped out to a 5-1 lead in Set 2, only to watch the Mounties use a five-point push, including two Taylor Stewart kills, to take a 8-7 lead.  A Stewart kill kept EOU within 17-15, but Torrey Hulsey had three kills and a solo block as the Yotes scored eight of the final nine points to even the match.

The C of I never trailed in Set 3, though EOU closed the gap to one point at 1-0, 2-1, 10-9, 18-17, and 19-18.  A Sofia Anxo kill got the Yotes set point at 24-21, but had to withstand back-to-back Haight kills before a Hulsey spike gave the hosts a two set to one lead.

Anxo had five kills and Hulsey four in the final set, as the Yotes used a pair of three-point runs late in the period to build a 23-16 lead, cruising to the win.

Anxo had 12 kills and Hulsey added 12 kills and five blocks in the win.  Kylee Nawahine had 10 killsnad 15 digs, Sierra Porter had 48 assists and 13 digs, with Janel Porter recording 21 digs.

Stewart had 12 kills and 13 digs for EOU, with Casey Loper recording 12 kills and three blocks, and Haight notching 11 kills and 10 digs.  Freshman Jessica Perron had 24 assists for the Mounties, with libero Kaitlyn Duncan leading all players with 26 digs.

The Yotes return to action next weekend with road tilts at Corban and Northwest Christian.
