CALDWELL, Idaho - Logan Gomez broke the school record in the 100-backstroke and Chrissie Younggren hit an NAIA "A" qualifying mark in the 400 individual medley, highlight The College of Idaho women's swim team opener this morning against the University of Puget Sound.
Despite five wins in the 11 events, two school records, and five NAIA qualifying marks, the Loggers won the head to head dual, defeating the Lady Yotes, 114-85.

Gomez broke the school record of Younggren that she recorded at the 2012 NAIA Championships with a second-place finish in the 100-back (1:06.00) - shaving 66 hundredths of a second off the former mark.
Younggren won the 400-IM with the third-fastest time in school history (4:58.02), recording an individual NAIA qualifying mark for a fourth-straight season.
Gomez teamed with Acadia DeAtley,Kirby Roberts, and Selena Warburton to hit the NAIA "A" standard in the 200-medley relay (1:59.73), becoming just the second C of I group to crack the two minute barrier, breaking the school record set in 2007. Gomez, Younggren, Roberts, and Warburton picked up a win in the 200-free relay, hitting the national mark with their time of 1:47.68.
Roberts notched a win in the 50-free (26.37), while Warburton hit the NAIA "B" cut in winning the 100-free (56.84), the third-fastest time in program history - and the best mark since 2008. Also picking up a win for the Yotes was Madeline Sato, who cruised to a 48 second win in the 1,000-free (11:41.53) with the second-fastest mark by a Lady Yote.
UPS used their depth to score the team victory - though the margin was the closest of the five previous match-ups. Five different Logger swimmers won events, as did the 200-medley relay.
The C of I returns to action in three weeks, competing in a two-day meet at Mills College in California.
