Hulsey Records 13 Kills, Lady Yotes Sweep Northwest

Torrey Hulsey had 13 kills and six blocks in Lady Yotes win
CALDWELL, Idaho – Torrey Hulsey recorded 13 kills and six blocks, helping The College of Idaho record their 69th-straight home Cascade Conference win, stopping Northwest University, 26-24, 25-13, 25-20, inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

The win for the No. 14 ranked Lady Yotes (16-4, 13-0 CCC) was their 13th-straight victory in a row and clinched a berth in the CCC Postseason Tournament.
 
It wasn’t easy in the early going, as the Eagles (12-9, 6-6) battled back from a 13-9 deficit in Set 1, evening the score at 16-16 on a combo-block from Rae Ann Haistings and Sarah Stoker, taking a 20-17 lead on a Lauren Ernster ace, a Stoker kill, and a Coyote ball handling error.  NU led 23-21, before a service error, a Hulsey block and a Hulsey kill gave the C of I set point.  After a side out, the Yotes put the set away on an Eagle hitting error and a Jessica Peacock ace.
 
The Yotes used a 9-2 run to open the second set to take command, with Hulsey recording four kills in a period ending nine-point push.
 
Set 3 saw NU draw even at 12-12 on a Coyote hitting error, but a Janel Porter ace and a Hulsey kill started a 5-0 run to put the match away.
 
Peacock had 11 kills in the victory for the Yotes, with Sofia Anxo adding seven kills.  Sierra Porter logged 37 assists and five blocks and Janel Porter notched 25 digs for in the win.
 
Breanna Covey led NU with eight kills, with Haistings adding seven kills.  Ashton Arbuthnot had 26 assists for the Eagles, with libero Heather Shulke leading the way with 17 digs.
 
The Lady Yotes hit the road for their next three matches, starting Friday night at Eastern Oregon.
