AT COLLEGE OF IDAHO: Shawn Humberger started at the College in 1990 as an assistant coach under Tim Mooney. He became head coach in 2001- currently, the longest tenured head coach at the College. He has posted a 604-504-1 overall record as head coach, the highest total of wins of any coach (in any sport) at the College.
HONORS: Humberger was named Cascade Conference Coach of the Year in 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008, while being named NAIA Region I Coach of the Year and CCC All-Sports Coach of the Year in 2002. He has coached 16 NAIA All-Americans (including first-team selection Izaac Garsez in 2012); 23 All-NAIA Region I selections; 39 All-CCC selections; 39 NAIA Scholar-Athletes; and 83 CCC All-Academic Team award winners. Three of his players have been drafted in the MLB First Year Players' Draft - Izaac Garsez (2012 - 30th Round, Chicago Cubs), Riley O'Brien (2017 - 8th Round, Tampa Bay Rays) and Zach Draper (2017 - 30th Round, Cleveland Indians).
POSTSEASON: Humberger has led the Yotes to 16 postseason berths in his first 21 years as skipper, including five trips to the NAIA National Championships. His 2002 team won the CCC and NAIA Region I titles, advancing to the NAIA World Series, where they would place third. His 2010 team finished 38-16, earning an at-large bid to the NAIA Opening Round Tournament, where they placed fourth. The 2012 squad earned an at-large bid to the NAIA postseason, winning the Opening Round Tournament in Azusa, Calif., before placing ninth at the NAIA World Series, while both the 2016 and 2017 teams earned at-large bids to the NAIA postseason, placing fourth in their Opening Round Bracket.
AS AN ASSISTANT: Humberger served as an assistant under Hall of Fame coach Tim Mooney for 11 seasons - including eight-straight 40-win seasons. He was part of the 1998 squad that finished a school-record 55-8 and won the NAIA national title and helped the 1999 team to a 50-19 record and a national runner-up finish. During that time, Humberger was also facilities coordinator for the J.A. Albertson Activities Center and coached Nampa's American Legion program for eight seasons.
PERSONAL: A native of Twin Falls, Idaho, Humberger played two seasons at the College of Southern Idaho, helping CSI win the 1984 NJCAA national title and earning All-America honors in 1985. He spent one season at the University of Nevada Las Vegas before transferring to the C of I, where he graduated in 1989. He and his wife, Michelle, live in Caldwell and have four children - sons Riley and Bailey and daughters Sydney and Sage.
