Montoya is in his fifth season with the Coyote cross country and track program...in cross, ran a top-time of 28:15 at the Erik Anderson Invite in 2011...had a season-best 27:40 at the Coyote Twilight as a junior...ran a career-best 26:05 over the shortened 8,000-meter course at the Coyote Twilight in 2009...did not compete in an event during the 2008 XC season, in track, ran a top 5,000-meter time of 16:28 in 2010 and a top 1,500-meter time of 4:20 in 2012...a 2008 graduate of Challis High, where he earned All-Area honors in cross country, placing fourth in the state 1A/2A meet...has a top-time of 2:04 in the 800, 4:45 in the 1,600, and 16:11 in the 5,000...also played basketball and football as a prep...looks to study biology... parents Tom and Sandy Montoya.
