CALDWELL, Idaho – The College of Idaho men's soccer team earned its first conference result of the season Friday night, battling No. 25 Warner Pacific to a hard-fought 0-0 draw at Simplot Stadium.
 
The Yotes (0-3-1) relied on a stellar defensive effort and a combined eight-save shutout from goalkeepers Fynn Gehring and Yago Gonzalez to keep the nationally-ranked Knights off the scoreboard.
 
Warner Pacific entered the match ranked No. 25 nationally and generated plenty of chances, outshooting The College of Idaho 16-9 and holding an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Yotes' defense stood firm throughout all 90 minutes, repeatedly turning away dangerous opportunities to secure the clean sheet.
 
Gehring made three saves during the opening 26 minutes before Gonzalez entered and stopped five shots over the final 64 minutes. Together, the duo produced the program's second shutout of the season.
 
The Knights threatened early with three shots on goal in the first half, but Gehring denied attempts from Luis Gonzalez, Lewis Rumrey and Mario Jauregui-Vallarta to keep things level. Gonzalez continued the strong goalkeeping display after halftime, making key stops throughout the second half as Warner Pacific pushed for the breakthrough.
 
The Yotes created opportunities of their own, finishing with five corner kicks and three shots on target. Forward Rodri Garcia-Marina led the attack with three shots, while Mitch Cameron put both of his attempts on frame. Cameron nearly delivered the winner in the closing minutes, forcing back-to-back saves from Warner Pacific goalkeeper Owen Purvis in the 81st and 85th minutes.
 
Despite the statistical edge for the visitors, The College of Idaho matched Warner Pacific's physicality throughout the contest and held the Knights scoreless for the full 90 minutes in front of the home crowd.
 
The Yotes return to action Sunday when they host Walla Walla University at Simplot Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
