CALDWELL, Idaho — The College of Idaho powered to a doubleheader sweep of Bushnell University on Saturday at Wolf Field, using a barrage of offense in Game 1 and a first-inning explosion in Game 2 to secure two wins. Right-hander
Willy Shirts delivered three scoreless innings in each contest, earning victories in both and improving to 6-0 on the season without surrendering an earned run in 2026.
The opener featured 28 total runs and 34 combined hits, with the Yotes matching Bushnell's 17-hit output in a 17-11 win.
Caden Casagrande led The College of Idaho with four hits and four RBI.
Logan Dreher went 3-for-3 with four RBI, including a pair of two-run doubles that broke the game open in the fifth and sixth innings.
Jack Ryan reached base four times, scoring twice and driving in a run, while
Corbin Sterner went 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored.
Austin Moon added a two-hit, three-run day, and
Skye Palmer contributed a hit, an RBI and two runs.
Bushnell countered with its own heavy offensive day as the Beacons collected 17 hits. Mason Millar finished 3-for-6 with two RBI and a run scored, while Max Richards also went 3-for-5 with two RBI. Nigel Fahland added three hits and scored twice. Caleb Richter and Dylan Carson each chipped in multiple hits and combined to drive in four.
Jackson Cummins started for the Yotes and worked four innings with four strikeouts before turning the ball over to Shirts, who delivered two innings of one-run baseball with one strikeout. His work stabilized a game that swung frequently before The College of Idaho's five-run fifth inning created separation.
Game 2 unfolded differently but hinged on the Yotes' massive seven-run first inning en route to a 7-6 win. The College of Idaho recorded five hits in the opening frame, including RBI singles from Sterner, Olsen and Hull, and capitalized on a passed ball and an error to complete the outburst. That early eruption proved enough to withstand Bushnell's persistent rally attempts.
Logan Dreher again paced the Yotes offensively, going 3-for-4 with two runs and a pair of RBI.
Connor Olsen added two hits and an RBI, while Sterner drove in two. Hull reached twice, scored once and added an RBI.
Bushnell was held to six hits but made them count. Nigel Fahland's two-hit, two-run game included an RBI double in the third. Nate Stevens drove in three on a single and two sacrifice flies. Chase Nye added a hit and scored twice.
Calvin Euper tossed three innings of one-run relief for the Yotes before Shirts handled the final three frames. Shirts faced the minimum in his final two innings and struck out three while allowing no hits for the second straight game.
With the sweep, The College of Idaho improved to 17-5 overall and 8-3 in Cascade Conference play. The series continues Sunday at Wolf Field.
