10 Run Third Inning Highlights Dominate Victory

TEMPE, Ariz. — The College of Idaho lineup erupted for 20 hits and a 10-run third inning Saturday afternoon, powering the Yotes past Park–Gilbert 21–6 to close out their opening weekend unbeaten.

Austin Moon led the offensive surge, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, a triple, a double and three runs scored. Connor Olsen added four hits and four RBI, including a run-scoring double in the third. Evan Brown finished with two hits, three runs and two RBI, while Bryce Mahlke added two hits, three runs and an RBI.

The decisive third inning saw The College of Idaho send 14 hitters to the plate, producing 10 runs on seven hits. Highlights included RBI hits from Moon, Olsen, Daniel Olson and James Hull, along with a run-scoring single from Caden Casagrande. The Yotes also took advantage of two wild pitches and an error to extend their lead to 14–4.

Hull added two hits, two runs and an RBI, and Jax Copeland contributed a sacrifice fly in the seventh. In total, 12 different Yotes scored at least once.

On the mound, Teagan Kinney earned the win in relief with two and two-thirds innings of one-run work, striking out three. Starter Kayden Sandow fanned four over three innings, and Calvin Euper closed the game by striking out the side in the ninth.

The College of Idaho returns to Caldwell for its home opener on February 13, hosting Pacific University (Ore.) at Wolfe Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. MT.
