No. 1 Yotes Roll Past Montana Western, 52-7

DILLON, Mont. – Top-ranked The College of Idaho continued its dominant start to the 2026 season on Saturday, piling up 553 yards of offense and scoring touchdowns in all three phases of the game plan en route to a convincing 52-7 Frontier Conference victory over Montana Western at Bulldogs Stadium.

The Yotes improved to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in Frontier West play with another balanced offensive performance that saw them control possession for nearly 37 minutes, convert 54 percent of their third-down opportunities, and average 7.4 yards per play.

The College of Idaho struck quickly, marching 67 yards on its opening possession before Rylie Byington capped the drive with a two-yard touchdown run. The Yotes added a pair of first-quarter touchdown drives of 81 and 75 yards to build a 14-0 lead after one quarter and a 28-0 advantage by halftime.

Offensively, the Yotes showcased their depth and efficiency throughout the afternoon. The rushing attack generated 294 net yards on 45 carries, averaging 6.5 yards per rush while accounting for five touchdowns. Through the air, The College of Idaho added 259 passing yards and completed 24 of 30 pass attempts.

Quarterback Caden Young directed the offense with an efficient performance, completing 21-of-27 passes for 237 yards and a touchdown while also contributing three rushing scores. Byington added another layer to the offensive attack, scoring on the ground and later delivering an 11-yard touchdown pass to Preston Chamberlin in the third quarter.

The Yotes put the game out of reach after halftime. A six-play, 50-yard drive ended with a touchdown pass to Jacob Morales, while an 11-play, 72-yard march later in the quarter concluded with Byington's passing touchdown to Chamberlin. Following a short field created by a turnover, The College of Idaho added another touchdown before the end of the third quarter to take a commanding 49-0 lead.
