CALDWELL, Idaho - The College of Idaho volleyball team picked up its first Cascade Conference win of the season in emphatic fashion, sweeping The Evergreen State College 25-7, 25-17, 25-10 on Saturday afternoon.
On her birthday, setter Shaynee McWilliams was the spark, dishing out 19 assists, adding a service ace, and even contributing a kill to lead the Yotes' balanced attack.
Mia Hutchinson paced the offense with 12 kills on .333 hitting, while Abigail Flerchinger added nine kills at a blistering .467 clip. Cierra Bohrn chipped in seven kills, and Cora Young was nearly unstoppable with a .556 hitting percentage on five kills.
The Yotes (7-2, 1-1 CCC) were efficient all afternoon, hitting .354 as a team while holding Evergreen (0-6, 0-2) to a negative attack percentage. Liza Montalbo made her presence felt at the service line with four aces, and College of Idaho's defense limited the Geoducks to just 20 kills across three sets.
Evergreen struggled to find rhythm offensively, finishing with a -.100 hitting percentage. Ashley Walker Campbell led the Geoducks with four kills, while Zofia Formella and Bright Brubaker added four and three kills, respectively. Jayden Vaimaona contributed eight assists and a service ace, and Amaialyne Cepeda led the team with 10 digs.
College of Idaho returns to action next weekend with a road swing through Oregon.
