COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. - The College of Idaho came up just short in a back-and-forth Cascade Conference match Friday, falling to Walla Walla in five sets, 15-25, 25-21, 15-25, 25-20, 19-17.
The Yotes (9-5, 3-4 CCC) had strong stretches, hitting .250 in the opening set and .281 in the third to take a 2-1 lead. Cierra Bohrn posted a team-high 12 kills with six blocks, while Brooke Garman added 13 kills and three block assists. Abigail Flerchinger chipped in 12 kills, and setter Shaynee McWilliams ran the attack with 42 assists, three aces and 17 digs.
Walla Walla (7-3, 5-2) rallied behind Sahara Browning's 11 kills and 16 digs, and Paula Flores and Yaimaris Garcia combined for 17 kills. The Wolves held off two College of Idaho match points in the fifth before closing on a 3-0 run to secure the victory.
The Yotes totaled 56 kills and out-dug the Wolves 78-68 but were undone by 40 attack errors.
College of Idaho continues conference play Saturday at Lewis-Clark State.
