COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — The College of Idaho Women's Soccer team opened Cascade Conference play in emphatic fashion on Friday, overpowering Walla Walla University 5-0 behind a record-setting performance from senior forward Natasja Davis and a relentless team effort on both ends of the pitch.
Davis wasted no time making history, scoring just over seven minutes into the match to record her 13th career game-winning goal, the most in program history. The goal was part of a dominant first half in which the Yotes scored four times and outshot the Wolves 24-0. Davis also assisted on the second goal of the match, setting up Gianna Yslava less than 90 seconds later.
The offensive barrage continued with an unassisted strike from Allison Moultray in the 12th minute, followed by a milestone moment for freshman Campbell Reed, who netted her first career goal in the 35th minute. Eden Makaafi capped the scoring early in the second half with her third goal of the season, giving the Yotes a commanding 5-0 lead they would carry to the final whistle.
Statistically, the Yotes were dominant in every phase of the game. They finished with a 43-1 advantage in total shots, including 26 shots on goal, while holding Walla Walla without a single shot on target. The Wolves' goalkeeper was forced into 21 saves, while the Yotes' keeper duo of Alivia Brenchley and Alexis Natividad combined for a clean sheet without needing to make a save.
Through six matches this season, The College of Idaho has outscored opponents 20-6 and outshot them 170-34, averaging 3.0 goals per game and 25.4 shots per contest. The Yotes have also earned 36 corner kicks while conceding just 14, and their defense has allowed only 6 goals across 450 minutes of play.
With the win, the Yotes improve to 5-1-0 overall and 1-0-0 in conference play. They'll look to extend their winning streak on Sunday when they continue their road trip at Warner Pacific. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. MT.
