VANCOUVER, Canada – The College of Idaho baseball team wrapped up a four-game road series against British Columbia with a 2-2 split over the weekend. Despite a tough 17-8 loss in Sunday's finale at Tourmaline West Stadium, the Yotes showed offensive firepower and resilience throughout the series and now sit at 19-19 overall (9-16 Cascade Collegiate Conference).
Sunday's matchup opened with a wild first inning, as British Columbia took advantage of three Yote errors to plate nine unearned runs. The Thunderbirds would finish with 17 total runs on 11 hits, capitalizing on timely extra-base hits and a pair of home runs from D. Krahn and D. Draayers.
College of Idaho roared back in the second and third innings, scoring eight unanswered runs highlighted by a two-run homer from D. Smith and a towering two-run blast to center by Caden Casagrande. Ben Gaff added a 2-for-4 performance with a double and two RBIs, while Cannon Morgan chipped in with two hits, a stolen base, and an RBI.
Despite the offensive surge, the Yotes couldn't keep pace with the Thunderbirds' continued production, including a six-run fifth inning.
College of Idaho used three pitchers in total, but struggled with control, allowing five walks, hitting one batter, and throwing four wild pitches.
With the series split, the Yotes will shift their focus to a crucial conference matchup in Lewiston next weekend against Lewis-Clark State. The series opener is set for Friday, April 11 at 6pm MT.
