Yotes Fall to British Columbia, Set Sights on Bushnell Doubleheader

CALDWELL, Idaho - The College of Idaho baseball team battled hard but fell short against the University of British Columbia, losing 15-6 on Saturday at Wolfe Field. The Yotes now hold a 12-10 overall record and are 2-7 in conference play.

The Thunderbirds struck early, putting up three runs in the first inning and adding two more in the third, building a steady lead. Despite the deficit, the Yotes showed fight, scoring twice in the second inning — with Bryan Ebe's sacrifice fly bringing in Darren Smith and Jack Ingraham's sac fly plating Austin Moon.

Ingraham was a bright spot for the Yotes, driving in five of the team's six runs, highlighted by a two-run homer in the fourth inning and a two-RBI double in the seventh. Ebe also made his presence felt, collecting three hits and scoring twice.

On the mound, Jakob Cummins took the loss, allowing five runs — four earned — over three innings. The bullpen saw appearances from Calvin Euper, Ben Gaff, Willy Shirts, Grant Jakobson, C. Campa, and J. Lewis, who combined for six strikeouts across the remaining six frames.

British Columbia's offense was led by Jonny McGill, who went 4-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs. Trent Lenihan added a home run and three RBIs, while Kellen Bourne blasted a two-run shot in the sixth inning.

The Yotes will look to bounce back at home on Friday, March 15, when they host Bushnell University in a Cascade Collegiate Conference doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at Wolfe Field.
