CALDWELL, Idaho - The College of Idaho women's basketball team got their tickets punched to Great Falls, Montana to compete in the NAIA First Round as a number twelve seed. They will take on hosts University of Providence (Mont) who hold the fifth seed on March 14th. The winner of that match up will take on the winner of number four seed Georgetown (K.Y.) and number thirteen seed Jamestown (N.D.).
The Yotes have reached the opening round of the NAIA Championship tournament for the first time since the NAIA combined the first and second divisions. The Yotes last made the national stage in 2013 under then head coach Reagan Rossi. The Yotes took on University of Providence early in the season, falling 71-61.
The Yotes look to ride momentum of the later part of the season, as they won six of their last seven games. They finished as CCC Semifinalists for the first time in six years. They fell in the semi final game to the only undefeated team in the nation, Southern Oregon University.
The Yotes battled tough this season to earn their spot and they look determined to show their grit at the national stage as they look to punch their ticket to the NAIA Final Site in Kansas City, Missouri.
