Head Coach Shawn Humberger Earns Win 700

CALDWELL, Idaho – College of Idaho head baseball coach Shawn Humberger reached a historic milestone on Sunday, earning his 700th career victory as the Yotes secured a 6-3 win over Corban University.

Humberger, currently the longest-tenured head coach in College of Idaho , has been a staple of the Yotes' baseball program for over three decades. He began his career at the College in 1990 as an assistant coach under Tim Mooney before taking over as head coach in 2001. In the years since, he has built a legacy of excellence, guiding the Yotes to sustained success on the diamond.

A five-time Cascade Conference Coach of the Year (2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008) and the 2002 NAIA Region I Coach of the Year, Humberger has overseen the development of some of the most decorated players in program history. His tenure includes coaching 16 NAIA All-Americans, including first-team selection Izaac Garsez in 2012, along with 23 All-NAIA Region I selections and 39 All-Cascade Collegiate Conference honorees. Additionally, he has mentored three players who were selected in the MLB First-Year Player Draft: Garsez (2012 – 30th Round, Chicago Cubs), Riley O'Brien (2017 – 8th Round, Tampa Bay Rays), and Zach Draper (2017 – 30th Round, Cleveland Indians).

Under Humberger's leadership, the Yotes have made 16 postseason appearances in his 21 seasons at the helm, with five trips to the NAIA National Championships. His 2002 squad claimed the CCC and NAIA Region I titles, advancing to the NAIA World Series and finishing third nationally. The 2012 team captured the NAIA Opening Round Tournament in Azusa, Calif., before placing ninth at the World Series, while his 2016 and 2017 squads also made deep postseason runs.

Now with 700 career wins, Humberger joins an elite group of coaches at the NAIA level who have reached the milestone, further cementing his legacy at the College of Idaho.

The Yotes will look to build on their momentum as they continue conference play next weekend against University of British Columbia. Humberger and his team remain focused on adding to their storied tradition.
