LA GRANDE, Ore. - The College of Idaho baseball team faced a tough battle on the road, falling 11-3 to Eastern Oregon at Optimist Field.
Eastern Oregon jumped out to an early lead in the 1st inning with a three-run home run by Carson Gerding. The Yotes responded in the 4th inning when Chandler Stocking blasted a solo home run to center field, cutting into the Mountaineers' lead. However, Eastern Oregon continued to build their advantage with two more runs in the bottom of the 4th and added six runs over the final three innings.
Despite the loss, the Yotes showed resilience at the plate. In the 9th inning, Bryan Ebe provided a spark with a pinch-hit home run to center field, and Stocking followed up with an RBI double, driving in the team's third and final run of the game. Jack Ingraham also had a solid performance, collecting two hits, including a double.
On the mound, Jackson Cummins (3-1) took the loss, pitching four innings and striking out six batters. Caden Casagrande, Zaylor Bruegeman, and Grant Jakobson each appeared in relief, combining for seven strikeouts.
The Yotes will now shift their focus to their upcoming home series against the University of British Columbia, starting Thursday, March 7th, at Wolfe Field in Caldwell.
