Yotes Finish Strong Season as CCC Semifinalists

Box Score

ASHLAND, Ore. — The College of Idaho women's basketball team saw their impressive season come to a close Saturday night, falling 66-46 to No. 1 seed and NAIA No. 2-ranked Southern Oregon in the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) tournament semifinals. The Yotes, who entered the contest riding a six-game win streak, finish the 2024-25 season with a 17-12 overall record and a strong 14-8 mark in CCC play.

Despite a slow start, the Yotes fought hard against the undefeated Raiders (30-0), keeping the game competitive through three quarters before Southern Oregon pulled away in the final frame. At the end of the first quarter, the Yotes trailed 15-8, with Kylie Waltermeyer's early three-pointer providing a spark. The team showed grit in the second quarter, narrowing the gap to 29-20 by halftime, thanks to another three-pointer from Mia Austin and key defensive rebounds from Ashton Adamson.

The third quarter saw the Yotes match Southern Oregon point-for-point, each team scoring 13 in the frame. Adamson led the effort with a layup and a strong presence on the boards, while Taryn Riley's pair of free throws kept the team within striking distance at 42-33 heading into the final period. However, the Raiders surged in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Yotes 24-13 to seal the win.

Waltermeyer led the Yotes with 16 points, going 6-for-13 from the field and knocking down two shots from beyond the arc. Austin added nine points, all from three-pointers, while Adamson anchored the defense with seven rebounds and four points. Brooke Beresford contributed five points and seven rebounds, and Riley chipped in five points and a steal.

Reflecting on the season, the Yotes showcased a balanced attack throughout the year. Brooke Beresford closed the season averaging 10.7 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, along with 21 blocks and 26 steals. Mia Austin was a consistent outside threat, averaging 9.1 points and grabbing 29 steals. Anna Mooney provided steady playmaking with 9.0 points per game and a team-leading 71 assists, while Riley added 7.6 points per contest and 27 steals. Adamson led the team on the glass with 6.9 rebounds per game, also recording 18 blocks, 31 steals, and 54 assists.

While the season ends shy of a championship, the Yotes' strong finish and core group of contributors set the foundation for continued success in the seasons to come.
