Yotes Celebrate Senior Night With Commanding Win Over Northwest

CALDWELL, Idaho —  College of Idaho women's basketball team capped off their regular season in style, defeating Northwest University 85-62 on Senior Night at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center. With the win, the Yotes finish the regular season with a 16-11 overall record and a 14-8 mark in Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) play, securing fifth place in the standings.

The night was highlighted by heartfelt celebrations for seniors Ashton Adamson and MaKenna Brandner, both of whom were honored pregame for their contributions to the program.

The Yotes displayed balanced scoring throughout the game, with four players reaching double figures. Kylie Waltermeyer led the charge with 18 points and 7 rebounds, while Taryn Riley was close behind, netting 17 points and grabbing 4 boards. Mia Austin came off the bench firing, scoring 17 points on an impressive 5-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc. Lainee Houillon added 9 points and 3 rebounds in a strong all-around effort.

After a tight first quarter that saw both teams knotted at 19, the Yotes broke the game open with a 28-point second quarter, heading into halftime with a 47-28 advantage. They maintained control through the second half, thanks to a combination of sharp shooting — 48.3% from the field and 40.0% from three-point range — and stifling defense, forcing 14 Northwest turnovers.

Northwest was led by Saydee Anderson, who poured in a game-high 22 points. However, the Eagles struggled to find consistency, shooting just 34.3% from the floor and 18.5% from deep.

With the regular season in the books, the Yotes now turn their focus to the CCC postseason. They will face off against No. 4 seed Eastern Oregon University in a quarterfinal matchup on February 26th in La Grande, Ore. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. MT (7 p.m. PT).
