SALEM, Ore. — The College of Idaho women's basketball team fought off Corban University for a 61-47 victory Saturday evening, snapping a four-game losing streak and completing a season sweep of the Warriors.
Brooke Beresford powered the Yotes with a game-high 17 points, nine rebounds, and five assists. Mia Austin provided a spark from beyond the arc with three three-pointers as part of her 11-point effort, while Lainee Houillon added nine points off the bench.
After trailing 19-15 at the end of the first quarter, the Yotes dominated the second period, holding the Warriors to just three points to take a 28-22 halftime lead. College of Idaho maintained their composure through the third and pulled away in the fourth, outscoring Corban 20-12 to seal the win.
Key to the Yotes' success was their ability to capitalize on defensive pressure, converting 18 Warrior turnovers into 20 points. They also dominated the paint, outscoring Corban 32-20 inside.
Madison Hodnett led Corban with 15 points and eight rebounds, but the Warriors struggled offensively, shooting just 28.6% from the field.
The Yotes' strong finish and balanced scoring fueled a well-rounded performance as they look to build momentum heading into their next matchup back at home against LC State.
