RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The College of Idaho women's basketball team opened its California road trip with its first win of the season Thursday night, rolling past La Sierra 83–51 behind a dominant start and a balanced scoring effort.
The Yotes (1–2) surged to a 29–9 lead after the first quarter and never trailed, shooting 54.4 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from three. Freshman Riley Beck led all scorers with 14 points and added 12 rebounds for a double-double. Brooke Beresford chipped in 12 points and six boards, while Taryn Riley went a perfect 4-for-4 from the floor for 11 points.
College of Idaho's depth proved decisive, with 11 different players scoring and the bench contributing 43 points. The Yotes also forced 21 turnovers and held La Sierra (1–0) to 29.5 percent shooting.
Yasmine Garrett led La Sierra with 11 points, while Naoime Munane added nine.
The Yotes continue their California swing on Saturday, traveling to Hope International University.
