Seniors Shine as Yotes Close Weekend of Celebration in Style

CALDWELL, Idaho – It was a weekend full of purpose and celebration inside the JAAC, and the College of Idaho volleyball team made it one to remember. After a successful Dig Pink match on Friday, the Yotes closed the weekend on Senior Night with a commanding 25-20, 25-12, 31-29 sweep of Oregon Tech, their first two-win conference weekend of the 2025 campaign.

The Yotes (15-8, 9-7 CCC) were in control throughout, hitting .236 as a team while holding the Owls to just .055. Saturday's victory capped a festive stretch honoring the team's commitment to community causes and its senior leaders: Mia Hutchinson, Capri Salmon, Brooke Garman, and assistant coach Reese Roper.

Hutchinson led the charge with a double-double of 11 kills and 11 digs, while Garman matched her with 11 kills on .231 hitting and closed out the third set with the final swing. Salmon dished out 18 assists and added four digs, sharing setting duties with Madeline Lee, who contributed 19 assists and two service aces.

In the middle, Abigail Flerchinger and Alexa Wheeler powered the block, Flerchinger recording nine kills and five blocks, and Wheeler turning in a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage (7-for-7) with six blocks. Libero Kadence Boyd anchored the back row with 12 digs.

Oregon Tech (10-13, 4-12 CCC) was led by Savanna Sterck with eight kills on .211 hitting, but the Owls couldn't find an answer for the Yotes' defense and balance at the net.

The Yotes will return home for one final stand on November 6th and 7th, joining the men's basketball program in hosting Jae Foundation Night to promote mental health awareness and suicide prevention. Fans are encouraged to pack the JAAC and show their support for the cause while wearing their western boots.
