Redemption on the Road: Yotes Take Down Beacons in Five Sets

EUGENE, Ore. - Nearly a month after a heartbreaking five-set home loss to Bushnell, the College of Idaho volleyball team flipped the script Friday night, outlasting the Beacons 3-2 (18-25, 25-20, 25-19, 22-25, 15-7) in Cascade Conference action at Morse Event Center.

The Yotes (13-7, 7-6 CCC) found redemption behind a balanced offense and strong defensive effort. Mia Hutchinson led the way with 14 kills and 11 digs, while Cierra Bohrn added 15 kills and 16.5 total points. Brooke Garman chipped in 12 kills and five blocks, and Abigail Flerchinger anchored the middle with seven kills and a team-high seven blocks.

The Yotes' two-setter system ran smoothly, as Madeline Lee tallied 30 assists and Capri Salmon added 19, with both contributing an ace and combining for 19 digs.

After dropping the opening set, the Yotes regrouped to hit .235 and .258 in the next two frames, taking control of the match. Bushnell (14-9, 8-5) forced a deciding set, but College of Idaho dominated the fifth, hitting .600 with just one error to close out the victory with poise.

Bushnell was led by Hailey Heider's 15 kills and 14 digs, while setter Emma Fa'alogo dished out 22 assists. The Beacons hit just .115 overall, including -.176 in the final set as the Yotes' front line controlled play.

College of Idaho finished with 59 kills on .171 hitting, holding a 9-6 edge in service aces and a 10-5 advantage in total blocks.

The Yotes continue their road trip Saturday against Corban in Salem.
