No. 8 Corban Holds Off No. 19 College of Idaho in Four Sets

SALEM, Ore. - In a clash of NAIA Top-25 programs, No. 8 Corban protected its home court Saturday with a 22-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-23 win over No. 19 College of Idaho at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.

The Yotes (13-8, 7-7 CCC) came out firing, taking the opening set behind balanced offense and steady defense before the Warriors (17-4, 11-3 CCC) rallied to win the next three and even the season series at a match apiece.

Junior outside hitter Mia Hutchinson paced College of Idaho with 15 kills and 14 digs, while Cierra Bohrn added 12 kills. Abigail Flerchinger was highly efficient, posting eight kills on a .438 hitting percentage, and Madeline Lee recorded 31 assists and six digs.

The Yotes hit .171 in the opening frame and used a 6-3 closing run to take the first set, but Corban found its rhythm midway through the second and used a blistering .500 attack percentage in the third to seize control.

College of Idaho refused to go quietly, erasing an 11-3 deficit in the fourth set to draw even at 23 to 23 before the Warriors closed out the match with two clutch points.

Corban was led by Makayla Roginski's 15 kills and Emma Bischoff's nine kills and three aces. Kaile'a Ontai anchored the back row with 27 digs, and Abby Guindy tallied 23 assists and 10 digs.

The Yotes return home next weekend for another pivotal Cascade Conference matchup as they continue their postseason push.
