Yotes Extend Win Streak to Four in Thrilling Victory Over Warriors

CALDWELL, Idaho – The College of Idaho Women's Basketball team continued their hot streak Friday night, edging out a 61-59 victory against the Corban University Warriors at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center. The win marks the fourth consecutive victory for the Yotes this season and their third straight triumph over the Warriors, improving to 4-2 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.

The Yotes overcame a significant deficit, trailing by as many as 12 points midway through the second quarter. However, a determined effort saw them claw their way back into contention, highlighted by a game-winning layup from Ashton Adamson with just seven seconds left on the clock.

The momentum swung throughout the game, with Corban making a dominant 12-0 run in the second quarter to establish their largest lead. The Yotes responded in kind, starting the fourth quarter with an 11-2 run to seize control, led by Adamson and Mia Austin's scoring prowess.

Adamson was a force on both ends of the court, leading the Yotes with 14 points, six rebounds, and two blocks. Austin chipped in with 15 points, including a clutch three-pointer to give the Yotes a late lead. Taryn Riley contributed 15 points and showcased her efficiency with a 5-of-11 shooting performance, while Anna Mooney added nine points, connecting on three crucial three-pointers.

For Corban, Madison Hodnett delivered an impressive double-double, tallying 14 points and 11 rebounds. Lizzy Bennett added nine points, including a late three-pointer that tied the game with under a minute to play.

The Yotes shot 34.4% from the field compared to Corban's 39.0%, but their aggressive defense forced 13 Warrior turnovers, converting those into 13 points. Despite being outrebounded 41-27, the Yotes' perimeter shooting made the difference, as they sank eight three-pointers to Corban's three.

The Yotes, now 6-5 overall, will look to extend their streak tomorrow as they host Bushnell University at 3 p.m. at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the team as they aim to solidify their position in the CCC standings.
