Yotes Outlast Owls in a Cascade Classic

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – In a game defined by momentum swings and lead changes, the College of Idaho men's basketball team emerged victorious, defeating Oregon Tech 82-76 on Thursday night at Danny Miles Court to complete the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) regular season sweep.

The No. 17-ranked Yotes (17-2, 12-1 CCC) battled through six ties and three lead changes in a tightly contested game, with the score differential remaining within single digits for much of the night. Samaje Morgan was the catalyst for the Yotes, contributing 16 points, eight assists, and a clutch 7-for-9 performance from the free-throw line. Morgan's composure late in the game ensured the Yotes capitalized on key possessions when it mattered most.

Johnny Radford provided a reliable scoring punch, finishing with 18 points while shooting 5-for-8 from the field and a flawless 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. His late-game free throws proved critical in sealing the win as Oregon Tech tried to mount a comeback.

The first half saw both teams trading buckets and momentum, with neither side able to pull away. Tyler Robinett was a force in the paint, notching 14 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks, helping the Yotes edge out a slim 38-36 lead at halftime. Drew Wyman added 17 points and was a key figure in breaking multiple ties throughout the second half.

Oregon Tech relied on strong shooting from beyond the arc, hitting 11-of-24 three-pointers (45.8%). Kam Osborn led the Owls with 21 points, while Keegan Shivers added 20. However, turnovers and struggles in the paint limited their ability to sustain a lead against the resilient Yotes.

In the final five minutes, the Yotes took control, using a combination of defensive stops and free throws to keep the Owls at bay. Morgan, Radford, and Wyman each stepped up in crucial moments to preserve the lead.

The team will head right to Ashland, Ore. for a Saturday evening matchup at Southern Oregon University.
