CALDWELL, Idaho — The College of Idaho Yotes swept the visiting Jessup-Multnomah Lions (25-12, 25-20, 25-17), continuing their strong run in front of a home crowd. The night also saw a milestone acknowledgment for Janae Rayborn, who has surpassed 500 career kills during her time at CI, adding to the celebration as the Yotes secured a dominant win.
How It Happened
The Yotes took control early in the first set, establishing a 4-0 lead with an ace by Althea Sandoval and kills from Alexa Wheeler. The Lions struggled to find an offensive rhythm, posting a negative hitting percentage in the set as the Yotes executed well-timed blocks by Abby Draghici and Haley McUne.
Multnomah gained more momentum in the second set, led by JahNay Jardine's team-high nine kills. However, CI's consistent attack, driven by Mia Hutchinson's 10 kills and two blocks, kept the Yotes in control. Shelbey Nichol contributed nine kills to maintain the Yotes' advantage.
In the final set, CI held a steady lead, and despite a late push from the Lions, a kill by Draghici sealed the sweep for the home team. Rayborn's continued contributions were celebrated, as she added three kills in the match, reinforcing her place among CI's top performers.
With the win, the Yotes improve to 8-8 on the season and 4-4 in conference play, while the Lions drop to 1-10 overall.
