PORTLAND, Ore.— The College of Idaho Cross Country teams delivered a stellar performance at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Preview on Saturday, showcasing their depth and talent just two races into the season. The program left the course with two team championships and an individual win too.
In the men's 8K race, graduate student Daniel Butler claimed the individual title with a time of 24:32.7, marking the second consecutive race in which a College of Idaho runner has taken first place. His win, following teammate Hayden Bostrom's victory in the season opener, highlights the strength of the Yotes' roster. Butler was joined on the podium by Bostrom and Elias Everist, who finished second and third, respectively. The Yotes dominated the race, finishing with a total time of 2:05:17 and averaging 25:03 per runner, securing a decisive team victory with a score of 31 points.
On the women's side, senior Kahea Figueira continued her impressive form, finishing second overall and first among collegiate runners with a time of 21:54.1. This marks her second consecutive race as the top collegian finisher, emphasizing her dominance in the field. The College of Idaho women's team secured the top spot with a total time of 1:53:33, earning a score of 21 points. Julia Gilbert and Kylee Quinton rounded out the top finishers for the Yotes, placing fifth and sixth, respectively.
This preview event featured many CCC teams the program will face again at the conference championships later this season, and the Yotes' early dominance sets them up well for the challenges ahead.
