CALDWELL, Idaho – September 15, 2024 – The College of Idaho Women's Soccer team, ranked #13 in the nation, battled to a 1-1 draw against UC Merced on Sunday afternoon, wrapping up their non-conference schedule. The Yotes now sit at 2-0-2 as they gear up for Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) play.
Despite outshooting UC Merced 14-9, the Yotes found themselves behind after UC Merced's Yesenia Tijerina scored in the 62nd minute off an assist from Kaeley Cariglio. College of Idaho responded quickly with an equalizer in the 76th minute when Alexis Eiguren found the back of the net, assisted by Gianna Yslava.
Goalkeeper Alivia Brenchley recorded four saves for the Yotes, while UC Merced's Jadyn Gong had an impressive performance with five saves. The Yotes dominated the second half offensively, outshooting UC Merced 10-5 after a balanced first half, but could not find the game-winner despite several close chances.
This match marks the end of non-conference play for the Yotes, who are set to host Northwest University on September 20th at Simplot Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m.
