College of Idaho Sweeps Evergreen State in CCC Home Opener

CALDWELL, Idaho — The College of Idaho women's volleyball team secured a dominant 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-21) sweep against The Evergreen State College Geoducks Friday night in a Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) matchup at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

The Yotes came out strong in the first set, using an early 13-5 run to establish control. Janae Rayborn delivered multiple kills while Savannah Hutchins provided crucial assists to push College of Idaho ahead. Evergreen struggled to find momentum, committing several attack errors, allowing the Yotes to close the first set comfortably at 25-14.

The second set saw the Yotes continue their dominance. Despite a few service errors, College of Idaho maintained control with Jessica Stires' powerful hitting, and Abby Draghici added a solid defensive presence at the net. An early 6-0 run midway through the set sealed the Geoducks' fate, with the Yotes holding Evergreen to a .030 hitting percentage for the set.

In the third and final set, Evergreen showed fight, leading 8-5 at one point. However, College of Idaho regrouped with Katie Black and Reese Roper contributing key kills to tie the set at 11-11. The Yotes then pulled away, using a combination of strong serving and blocking to finish the match, sealing the sweep with a 25-21 third set victory.

Stat Leaders:

Jessica Stires led the charge for the Yotes with 11 kills and a .600 attack percentage, while Janae Rayborn contributed 8 kills on a .412 hitting percentage. Savannah Hutchins orchestrated the offense with 17 assists, and Capri Salmon added 20 assists of her own. Defensively, Althea Sandoval was a force in the back row with 10 digs, while Abby Draghici led the Yotes' net defense with 3 block assists.

For Evergreen, Ashley Walker Campbell paced the Geoducks with 5 kills, while Molly Packer had 11 digs in a strong defensive effort. Despite their efforts, the Geoducks were limited to a .022 team hitting percentage, struggling against College of Idaho's balanced attack and aggressive net play.
