PRESCOTT, Ariz. – The #19 ranked College of Idaho women's soccer team showcased their offensive firepower with a commanding 6-0 victory over Park-Gilbert (AZ) on Saturday. The Yotes improved to 2-0-0 on the season with a dominant performance both offensively and defensively.
College of Idaho opened the scoring in the 7th minute when Gianna Yslava found the back of the net off an assist from Larissa Wegner. Just two minutes later, Larissa Wegner scored a goal of her own, assisted by Natasja Davis, putting the Yotes up 2-0 in the 9th minute.
The offensive onslaught continued as Natasja Davis added a goal in the 13th minute, assisted by Ava Poyser, extending the lead to 3-0. In the 27th minute, Alexis Eiguren scored off an assist from Abbi Roubidoux to make it 4-0 before halftime.
Eden Makaafi added an unassisted goal in the 59th minute, increasing the lead to 5-0. Gianna Yslava capped the scoring in the 77th minute with her second goal of the game, assisted by Alondra Osuna and Alexis Eiguren, finalizing the score at 6-0.
Goalkeeper Hailey Jo Parks was solid in net, recording three saves to secure the shutout victory.
The College of Idaho women's soccer team will face a tough test in their next match as they take on hosts #18 Ottawa University Arizona. The game is set for 10 a.m. Mountain Time on September 2nd.
