CALDWELL, Idaho — The College of Idaho volleyball team capped off their two-day tournament with an electrifying victory, defeating the No. 5-ranked Viterbo in straight sets (25-22, 25-14, 25-20) on Saturday night. This win was a dramatic turnaround from the team's earlier performance, where they had faced a 3-2 loss to Montana Western.
The Yotes, who faced some adversity in their opening matches of the tournament, showed remarkable resilience and tactical prowess against a top-ranked opponent, marking their first win of the season after an arduous start.
In today's opening game against Montana Western, the College of Idaho competed hard in a close 5-set match. Key performances came from Haley McUne with 12 kills and 5 aces and Alexa Wheeler with 13 kills.
However, the Yotes bounced back spectacularly in their final match against #5 Viterbo. The College of Idaho showcased a strong defensive performance and a well-balanced attack. Haley McUne led the charge with 12 kills and 3 blocks.
Viterbo struggled with their own inconsistencies throughout the match. Despite Haley McUne's strong individual showing with 12 kills and 14 digs, the V-Hawks could not overcome the Yotes' improved defensive schemes and offensive execution.
