Box Score LEWISTON, Idaho – The upset-minded College of Idaho baseball team allowed a fast start by the host Lewis-Clark State College Warriors in an 8-7 loss on Friday.
LC State (20-9, 10-3 CCC) went ahead early with a four-run first inning for an early lead. The Yotes would not lie down and responded in the next inning with five runs of their own. With bases loaded, Drake George walked
Matthew Iwamizu, third of walk of the inning, allowing
Jack Ingraham to score at four. College of Idaho took its first lead on a
Chandler Stocking sacrifice fly bringing in Dillion Danner.
Later in the game,
Jordan Kelly added to the Yotes lead with a two-run home run. LC State came back tied it up in the following inning from a Dominic Signorelli sacrifice fly that allowed Nick Seamons to tie the contest. A Signorelli two-run homer put the Warriors back ahead.
Kelly regained the lead for the Yotes again in the top of the seventh. His RBI single allowed pinch runner
Brayden Macy to score and a passed ball on a
Darren Smith strikeout allowed an alert Trevor Waltkins to score and tie the game up at 7.
With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth without any additional scores and knew they would need to force extra innings. Four walks in the bottom of the inning was just enough for an 8-7 win in favor of the Warriors.
The Yotes offensive was led by
Jordan Kelly, who in his four ABs had four RBI on two hits. Plus,
Matthew Iwamizu also got two hits and a RBI in three at bats and pinch runner
Brayden Macy scored a pair of runs.
